How early should you leave?
For international flights we generally recommend leaving Makkah 4 to 5 hours before departure in normal conditions, and longer during Ramadan nights or the Hajj period when the expressway can double in time.
Add buffer if you are checking Zamzam water β many airlines require it as checked baggage with specific packing rules, which slows the check-in queue.
Zamzam and luggage
Families almost always leave with more luggage than they arrived with. Size up the vehicle if you are near passenger capacity β a cramped sedan with Zamzam containers is a stressful start to a long flight.
The checkpoint on exit
The Makkah checkpoint still applies on the way out. Keep passports and boarding passes accessible. Our drivers hold the correct permits and know the procedure.
